Welcome. My name is Elizabeth and I love the outdoors. I live in southern Ontario where I an access farmer’s markets and orchards for in season produce, but also specialty markets that carry many unusual ingredients. In the fall, I love nothing more than getting in my car and see where it will take me, hunting roadside farms while enjoying the changing leaves.

I also love camping, hiking and canoeing and have had many meals cooked over a camp fire. I have my own dehydrator and prepare all of my own meals when in the back country.

Early in the morning on Macintosh Lake, Algonquin Park

I am on a sodium reduced diet and as a result have had to become quite creative in my cooking. I adapted some of my favourite recipes and began looking for cookbooks with sodium reduced recipes. I tried many things I never had before. I kept my own recipe book with notes about timing, substitutions, and if it would freeze well. Some turned out really well and I began to think about starting a blog but it was such a commitment. I spent the time and money on experimenting with recipes and photographing the results, I filled countless notebooks with recipes, but could never quite bring my self to actually start. The then I cam across this quote:

It really struck a cord because I realized that I did think about the blog every day. It was the shove that I needed to move forward.
